In this talk, Dr. Jeffery Appelhans will share research from his current book project, “The Creation of American Catholicism: From the Revolution to the Early Republic,” which offers a new narrative on how the Revolution and the early republic created American Catholics by unleashing the forces that established them as American.  

About the Speaker

Dr. Jeffery Appelhans (PhD, University of Delaware) specializes in the political and religious culture of colonial, Revolutionary, and early America, as well as book history and bibliography. He is currently the Richard Lounsbery Postdoctoral Fellow at the American Philosophical Society in Philadelphia.
