Online lecture and book talk by Dr. Peter Cajka

This lecture will explore how American Catholics claimed freedom of conscience in debates about sexuality and war in the 1960s. Catholics reshaped the terms of American freedom with an idea of conscience that had medieval and modern roots.

Dr. Peter Cajka is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of American Studies at the University of Notre Dame. He is the author of Follow Your Conscience: The Catholic Church and the Spirit of the Sixties (University of Chicago Press, 2021).
