In this talk, Angelina Lincoln will explore the life and legacies of the Moulden family, one of Villanova University’s founding families. Today, Villanova’s students attend classes on a campus secured partially thanks to the financial contributions of William Moulden, a black man and former indentured servant, whose legacy has essentially been lost. This talk helps to recover the Moulden’s story and his significant role in Villanova’s founding and developing during the nineteenth century. 

Ms. Angelina Lincoln, Villanova University

Angelina Lincoln is originally from Miami, Florida. She spent six years at Villanova University studying history and is currently a historical researcher for Villanova. She is continuing to research the university’s early history and founders, including the Moulden family. Her research interests include in the Civil War and Reconstruction, African American history, and Catholicism in the United States.
