Dr. Tia Noelle Pratt (PhD, Fordham University) will discuss her new book, Black and Catholic: Racism, Identity, and Religion that identifies the nature and ramifications of systemic racism on American Catholicism and how that marginalization impacts Black Catholic identity. In this talk, she will give particular attention to the research that closely connects to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
About the Speaker
Tia Noelle Pratt, PhD, is Special Assistant to the Vice President and Director of Mission Engagement and Strategic Initiatives in the Office for Mission and Ministry, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Editor of the Journal of Catholic Social Thought at Villanova University. A sociologist of religion by training, Dr. Pratt received her PhD in Sociology from Fordham University.
